On January 4th, inspired by the beginning of a fresh, new year,
I gathered with three women I deeply respect for an experiment.
A feedback circle.
We each brought ideas for upcoming projects and big questions about our businesses (and, really, about our life’s work). And we explored what would happen if we laid it all out — all the things percolating and the practical struggles we’ve been bumping up against — and asked one another for reflection, feedback, and advice.
We didn’t know what to expect. We didn’t know if the practice would be useful at all. We left some space for magic to enter. — It did.
Without sharing any of the particulars, for they feel private and sacred to the group, I will say that we each left with clarity on a new or refined direction, a list of our next steps, and a new sparkle in our eyes for what lay ahead.
We were able to help each other sort out not only what we wanted to be offering or doing in the world, but also, in some cases, how we’d present it, how we’d price it, how we’d market it, and what we’d tackle first.
There was something so expansive and reassuring about having a group of women whom we respect and trust come to a consensus and say, this way feels right.
At the end of the day, we decided we absolutely must do it again next quarter, both because we want each other’s feedback again three months from now and because knowing we’ll reconvene keeps us all accountable in the meantime.
After sitting with it for a few days, I’ve decided that this structure, which we decided to call Mini Circles of Magic, wants to be a complement to Worksesh. While Worksesh is where we come to widen our community, share updates, and find support, a Mini Circle of Magic is where we come to get specific feedback, to iterate a new idea or possibility, and to make sure we’re creating our new projects in a way that will resonate with people. A Mini Circle of Magic is a focus group, a mastermind (for lack of a better word), and the most supportive sounding board we could ever hope for.
So later this month I’ll be hosting
our first official Mini Circle of Magic.
I can’t wait to watch it unfold.
Here are all the details —
There will be four women in our Mini Circle of Magic (plus me), and I’ll use our Application Form to ensure that we each woman in the group has a slightly different area of expertise and a unique perspective and wisdom to add to the collective.
Friday, January 25
From 1p until 5 or 6pm
A cozy space on the westside of LA.
My hope is that this group of women will come to care for one another and that the feedback we give each other will create space for great joy, purpose, and prosperity this year.
I (Chelsea) will be holding the circle, and I’ll be an active participant as we give feedback.
Please only apply if you are fully ready to commit to the group. If you have any questions, send me a note to: firstname.lastname@example.org. We’ll be putting the group together no later than January 20.
